Successful Completion of the International Conference on Indigenous-led Research and Education

Successful completion of the International Conference on Indigenous-led Research and Education today. The second day of the conference held key note speeches from our respected speakers: Prof. Surichai Wun’Gaeo, Chulalongkorn University; and Mr. Michael Croft, UNESCO Nepal. The session was chaired by Ms Mary Beth Jager, University of Michigan.

This followed the presentation and roundtable discussion on Indigenous-led Research and Education, chaired by Dr Pasang Dolma Sherpa in the presence of Hon. Ram Bahadur Thapa Magar, Indigenous Nationalities; Prof. Linda Waimarie Nikora, University of Auckland, Mr. Raja Devasish Roy, Chittagong Hill Tracts; Prof. Bal Chandra Luitel, Kathmandu University, Mr. William Sunderlin, RRI and Mr. Giri Rao, Vasundhara.

Panel sessions on Indigenous Economy & Food Sovereignty, and Climate Change & Indigenous Resilience brought insightful discussions and presentations among the participants. The plenary session among the Masters in Indigenous Education and Development (MIED) 2023 students provided important platform for students to share their experiences and work during the conference.

The conference ended with closing remarks from distinguished guests: Prof. Bhola Thapa, Vice Chancellor, Kathmandu University, and Prof. Lina Waimarie Nikora, University of Auckland.
