The completion of the two-day National Level Workshop on Rights Based Conservation in Nepal marks a historical achievement of Indigenous Peoples, Local communities, Women, Madheshi, Dalits, persons with disabilities, and other marginalized communities in Nepal for coming up with the joint common position paper over the legal provision of national park, especially on the national park and wildlife conservation regulation and other relevant documents and hand over to the Ministry of Forest and Environment as well as concerned department: Department of National Park and Wildlife Conservation (DNPWC) led by NEFIN, FECOFUN, CIPRED, NIWF, Hemawanti, DNF and others with 113 participants representing 25 organizations across the country in Kathmandu today.
The 2nd-day program commenced with Dr. Pasang Sherpa, Chairperson of CIPRED as the chair of the event in the presence of Chief guest, Hon. Ram Bahadur Thapa Magar, the Chairperson of Indigenous Nationalities Commission, Hon. Bishnu Prasad Chaudhary, Chairperson of Tharu Commission; Dr. Deepak Kumar Kharal, Secretary of Ministry of Forest and Environment; Dr. Sindhu Prasad Dhungana, Director General of DNPWC; Hon. Bharati Pathak, Parliament Member of Bagmati Province; Hon. Rajkumar Lekhy, Parliament Member of Madhesh Province; Mr. Gelje Sherpa; Chairperson of NEFIN; Ms. Nimi Sherpa, Chairperson of NIWF; Ms. Nirmala Shrestha, Gen. Secretary of HEMAWANTI; and Mr. J.B Bishwakarma, National President of DNF.
